Exercise – New Fav’s

I think it’s pretty safe to say that many of us have come up with new ways to exercise in the time of Covid-19.  Well, except possibly for me. I’ve been a fan of exercising at home for a very long time. Yes, I did go to classes at the gym in the early 2000’s – they were packed to the gills and if you didn’t get there early enough, you’d be relegated to the back row where you couldn’t see the instructor clearly. I do credit the yoga classes I took, also in the early 2000’s in Northern California, for teaching me the basics that have served me well to this day. Yet again, kudos to the Bar Method classes I toyed with for quite a while – they helped me develop long, lean muscle. (Boy, were those tough classes!)

The problem I have with attending classes is that often the schedule just doesn’t work with my life. Since I’ve been designing closets for California Closets for some years now, my schedule is subject to change, so I’ve gone back to relying on my at-home workouts. Thankfully, there are so many classes on-line now that I really don’t have any excuse not to exercise, other than laziness, which I do invoke from time to time.

I wanted to share with you a couple of my new on-line favorites. Caveat: these are especially favorites of mine because they are pretty easy on the knees, which I now have to be careful of. I love these particular ones because they are only 30 minutes long and you can get a pretty good workout if you put yourself into them. The first one is by Jessica Smith TV, who has a great YouTube channel – she comes out with new workouts all the time, for all levels. If you like it, you might consider subscribing so you get notified when a new one comes out.

The second is by another favorite channel which I’ve talked about before – PopSugar Fitness. They have so many workouts of all kinds…for all levels…for a variety of time-frames. My new favorite is a Power Yoga flow – I feel really great when it’s done.

At least doing 30 minutes of exercise every day is hopefully going to nudge me into keeping this up once restrictions are lifted, as well as keep off the dreaded Covid-15 – that 15 extra pounds that could pile on due to just a tad bit of over-indulging, comfort food during this time of shelter in place.

What are you doing to keep fit during this time? I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for reading – stay safe!
