Design Consultant – California Closets

Hi! I’m Adena DiTonno, owner of adenaDesigns. I’m a design consultant in Cary, NC, having moved to the area after 30+ years in the San Francisco Bay Area.  And I love it!

Since 2004 I have loved helping my clients maintain wonderful, working wardrobes that maximize their assets and showcase their individual style personalities. In 2017 my career evolved into a new passion – working as a design consultant with California Closets to help clients achieve their perfect storage solutions, whether with their dream closet, pantry, office or garage. I trained at the corporate headquarters in the San Francisco Bay Area, where I was living at the time, and I continue to work now in the greater Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area in North Carolina. The combination of my skill sets in both image consulting and closet design provides a dual benefit to my clients.

One of my overriding philosophies is taken from author Gretchen Rubin: “Outer order contributes to inner calm.” When you’ve got a functional, organized wardrobe and well thought-out (and beautiful) storage systems, you can begin and end your day in peace. Whatever your needs, I can help.

MY BACKGROUND

  • At a very early age I learned to sew from my mother and grandmother and loved making my own clothes, including a winter coat and my Senior-year prom gown. (Actually I wish I still had that gown – it had such a beautiful flowing chiffon skirt!)
  • I started out in pre-nursing, but discovered that I really loved marketing and began my professional career in pharmaceutical marketing with a start-up dermatological company in California, progressing from there into healthcare advertising.
  • When I met my husband, I transitioned into a home-based business where I sold beautiful lines of women’s clothing through private trunk shows.  From there it was but a short jump to full-on wardrobe and image consulting.
  • I served on the Board of Directors of the San Francisco Bay Area chapter of the premier professional organization in image consulting – the Association of Image Consultants International San Francisco Bay Area chapter (AICI-SFBA) – for four years, one year as President. What a thrill to be associated and connected with my image professional colleagues, both locally and from around the world.
  • Closet design was a natural progression for me, and I love using state-of-the art Computer Assisted Design (CAD) to design beautiful, functional storage solutions for my clients. Seeing closets (or pantries, offices, garages, or media centers) come to life for my clients is a real joy – for them and for me.

A Bit More Personal (TMI?)

  • I took weekly piano lessons most of my childhood years, through high school graduation. I still love to play, but should practice a lot more than I do.
  • I played basketball in high school (they needed tall girls!), but now golfing is my sport of choice. It’s a wonderful opportunity to enjoy beautiful outdoor spaces and spend quality time with my husband, plus you meet the nicest people on the golf course.
  • The other love of my life is my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Bucky. At this point in life, he’s got me pretty well trained, I must say.
