I’ve come across a couple of things lately that are just ‘lovely reading’. They speak to me in so many ways that I just feel compelled to share them with you. They are both from a new newsletter that I subscribe to called Daily Good. Not everything I receive from this newsletter do I find compelling, but I always look at it before hitting the Delete button.
The first was an interview of poet Mary Oliver by Krista Tippett in her On Being podcast. You can either read it or listen to it through the link. Of course you’re probably familiar with at least the one line from her well-known poem, ‘The Summer Day’:
I am always fascinated by what writers have to say, about themselves and about their works, and this interview offers wonderful insight into the life of this particular woman who poems have enchanted millions.
The second is from an article that Anne Lamott wrote in 2017 about “every single thing I know as of today.” These fifteen things (and a few other add-on’s at the end) speak to my heart over and over.
Like #10. “Grace: Spiritual WD-40. Water wings. The mystery of grace is that God loves Dick Cheney and me exactly as much as He or She loves your grandchild. Go figure. The movement of grace is what changes us, heals us and our world. To summon grace, say, “Help!” And then buckle up.”
And her #2:
Interestingly, these two authors are fans of Rumi, which may compel me to do a little more digging into his writings. I do love the one Anne quotes that when all is said and done,
“We’re all just walking each other home.”
Who inspires you? Do share!
Thanks for reading – stay stylish!
