This Week’s Delights

We’re already finishing with the 3rd week of the year – can you believe it? And of course, January being January, the weather is changeable to say the least, even here in NC. One of the things we’ve gotten used to in our 3+ years of living here is that people tend to freak out whenever there’s a forecast of possible inclement weather, even the merest dusting of snow. By which I mean, the Governor calls a state of emergency in advance…people rush to clear out store shelves of food and toilet paper, etc. (Now, ice…that’s another story. I, too, freak out when they start talking about black ice.)

We did have that dusting last Sunday, which looked very pretty in our little neighborhood. Just as a child looks forward to a school ‘snow day’, I personally look on these snow/weather days as a great excuse to lay on the couch and read.

The next little ‘delight’, albeit also creepy, is when I got a photo from one of my clients for whom I had designed some hall linen closets. Her son was home from college over the holidays, and brought his ‘collection’ home with him. Said collection was being housed in one of the hall closets during the temporary visit. Check this out…

On a more delightful note, it’s really the simple things that bring a touch of joy to the day. Like when my socks coordinated with the rug in my office, which I noticed as I was stretching after morning yoga. Little pleasures…

Thanks for reading – stay safe and stylish!
