A Few Thoughts on…Being 65

-I thought I’d be wiser by now.

-I always find nuggets of wisdom when I read Anne Lamott (actually tons of wisdom) and Mike Rowe, plus lots of giggles.

-I feel peaceful when I remember these words of Ram Dass – “We’re all just walking each other home.”
-And also these:

-Getting older is better than the alternative.

-It does suck, and make it harder to dress, that my upper arms and knees aren’t so great to expose any more. And I also wonder if I should even care about that.

-On the other hand, I don’t have to shave my legs so often, as that hair makes less frequent appearances. (Offset by the odd chin-hair that randomly shows up when least expected.)

-I’m much happier when I’m reading a book or two, and have a stockpiled list of ones to be read. (Recent fav’s: all of Tana French, all of Louise Penny, and the aforementioned Anne Lamott; I borrowed her newest, “Almost Everything”, from the library and I will now rush out and buy it because so much of it begs to be underlined and re-read.)

-Oh – and borrowing books from the library! It brings back memories of making our weekly trips to the local library when I was a kid in school and stocking up on stacks of books.

-Having a two-martini lunch with my oldest friend can help transport us back to when we were giggling 20-somethings, and this is good.

There’s more to be said, but for now this is all I can remember. Thanks for reading!
