Beautiful (and Functional) Jewelry Storage

For some things, having merely functional storage is totally appropriate. Tupperware for instance. Storage for all those plastic containers doesn’t need to be pretty – it just needs to be functional. For me, underwear falls in that category too. I don’t need it to be especially pretty, but I do need it to be functional.

When it comes to jewelry though, I love beautiful, as well as functional, storage. Maybe it’s because the jewelry itself is so pretty to look at – it needs to be displayed beautifully. And I do think it needs to be displayed, even if the display is behind doors or in a drawer. When you open that drawer or that door, it should bring a smile of delight to your face. “Which of you wants to come out and play today?”

If you’re going the DIY route, there are some clever ways to display your jewels, depending on how much time, talent and space you have.

I’ve found that jewelry organization is one of the most common and important items that my female clients ask for when I’m designing their new closets. Just like your clothes, if it’s well organized, and you can see it, then you’ll wear it. Here are a few of my favorite jewelry storage solutions.

Of course, traditional jewelry boxes are beautiful when you have the counter space to display them. These are from our Essentials line.

One of my favorite jewelry storage solutions is inside a compartmentalized drawer insert.

I’m like a kid in a candy store when it comes to jewelry storage. Do you have any clever ways of storing your jewelry? Do tell!
