To say my life has been chock full of changes this past year would be an understatement. I’ve loved my new designing career at California Closets – it’s expanded my horizons in more ways than one. (I wrote about it here.) I’ve met countless numbers of interesting people (and their closets)…I’ve stretched my technical skills…I’ve re-learned problem-solving skills…and I’ve seen SO many new-to-me neighborhoods – ones that existed all around me but I’ve never driven through. (I highly recommend you take detours off your beaten paths and explore the neighborhoods surrounding your home and nearby cities – there are so many beautiful streets and vistas!)
I was thrilled when I first started this new career to discover that a woman in her sixties could learn some new tricks. Now I’m embracing another major life change – a move from my home in California for the past 43 years to a new adventure in North Carolina where my husband has accepted a new position. We’ve had many moves through the years – from our hillside home in Sausalito to the tree-lined streets of Burlingame to the water and park vista of Redwood Shores. Our last move was three years ago to San Mateo, just a few miles away, and I think the whole purpose of that move was to get me to do a significant purge of all of our ‘stuff’ (I hate to say it but we filled a whole truck from 1-800-GotJunk.) Because now – in contemplating our move across country – the task isn’t as daunting as it might have been, although I’m still tossing and donating a lot of things.
I’m still wrapping my mind around all of this but I know it will be a grand adventure. It’s similar to how we adjust our wardrobes according to changes in our bodies or our innate style through the years, only on a grander scale. So stay tuned as I journey down this new path. If you’ve done something similar, I’d love to hear about it – please do share!
Thanks for reading!
