One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing designs come to life – from the initial consultation with the customer where we talk about their desires and dreams, translated to the computer screen, and then weeks later, to the end result. I don’t always get to see the final-final result – the space with the client’s belongings in place – but when I do, I’m always delighted.
For example, this particular client and I met and discussed everything she’d like to have in her closet. She wanted to coordinate with her bathroom, which was done in a very elegant dark navy. We selected an ivory finish, with gold hardware for the drawer handles and hanging rods (the gold hardware coordinated with her bathroom hardware, and she had purchased a gold ceiling light for the closet.) Her plan was to paint the closet navy. My CAD program can’t accurately represent navy so I just used a contrasting color when we were reviewing her design. So here’s one view of what we were working with for her final plans:
The closet has strip lighting above every hanging rod and above her drawers (on the R). Of course, you can’t see this in the rendering, so imagination is required.
Now, take a look at a few views of the final product:
Do you see why I get so excited? It’s amazing what lighting and paint can do for your closet! (Of course, there’s nothing like a closet that is designed especially for your specific belongings. As I always tell my clients, and they agree, it’s a real joy to walk into your closet every day when it’s well designed. Getting dressed is something we do every day and it should be easy and pleasant, not a chore.)
Thanks for reading – stay safe!
